Why do you say "are you hoping to go to the university?" Isn't it present simple which is required here?
Hi Ekaterina, we can say I hope to go to university or I'm hoping to go to university. Both are possible, but if you say 'I hope...' it suggests 'someday' further in the future. If you say 'I'm hoping' it's more immediate and suggests that you are doing things now to make it happen. In general, in conversation like this where we're talking about our current plans and ambitions, 'I'm hoping' is more common.
